In the #steampunk world of James Ng, China - not Britain - industrialized first
If you’ve ever searched for steampunk art, there’s a good chance you’ll have found James Ng’s “Imperial Airship”. But did you know this is only one in a series of artworks? Called Imperial Steam & Light, they depict a world in which China, not the United Kingdom, industrialized first.
The Hong Kong-born Ng imagines the possibilities:

Marcin Jakubowski is a self-taught Polish concept artist and illustrator with a few diesel- and steampunk pieces in his collection.
He won the Texture Award in GCSociety’s 2008-09 Steampunk: Myths and Legends competition with “The Fall of Hyperion”. That painting, and three more, are displayed below.
